Fuel Cells PDF E-mail
The fuel cell is an electrochemical generator in which a fuel (hydrogen) and an oxidant (oxygen or water) are introduced and from which continuous electric current is obtained. A fundamental important aspect for the applications of fuel cells is represented by the fact that the effluents/emissions (water and gas exhausts), which must be removed continuously from the cell, do not contain polluting substances.

Solid oxides fuel cell

There are various types of fuel cells, among which, for example, the PEM cells (Proton Exchange Membrane, PEMFC), called also SPFC (Solid Polymer FC, solid polymer electrolyte cells), AFC cells (Alkaline FC), molten carbonate cells (or MCFC, Molten Carbonate FC), solid oxides cells SOFC (Solid Oxide FC), and phosphoric acid cells PAFC (Phosphoric Acid FC).
